Keeping Skin Hydrated as Temperatures Drop

After months of focusing on keeping your skin from burning in the summer sun, we often forget that the fall and winter months also require specific skincare. It is easy for skin to become dry and rough due to higher winds and the colder air, which contains less moisture. Below are a few ways to keep your skin looking hydrated and smooth as the weather cools down.

  1. Shower Temperate

Even though we love them, very hot showers or baths can dry out skin. Try using lukewarm water and keeping showers to around 10 minutes. Adding a few drops of lavender or almond oil to a bath can help with skin moisture as well.

  1. Sunscreen

Yes, even when it is cold outside the sun still produces UV rays, which can cause skin damage. Wear sunscreen daily on any part of skin that will be exposed. And don’t forget to reapply!

  1. Eating (Good) Fats

Consuming foods with omega -3 fatty acids aids in keeping skin cells hydrated, smooth and supple.

  1. Hydrate Overnight

Revision Skincare’s Firming Night Treatment is perfect for dry, sensitive skin. It alleviates dryness with Shea Butter and a unique blend of botanical extracts, and includes Sodium Hyaluronate, which binds moisture to skin. This product works overnight to moisturize and (bonus!) it reduces fine lines and wrinkles.
